Rows with fewer than 30 venues are omitted. Each percentage uses the whole named-beer priced-listing sample. A missing listing does not prove a beer is not served.
Download this chartCount the pubs, rather than the number of pours
A pub listing the same beer as a pot, schooner and pint counts once for that product. Regular and offer mentions are joined, with canonical product names and venue aliases counted once.
A missing entry does not mean a missing tap
PINTR does not have a complete tap list for every venue. A pub without a recorded Guinness price may still serve Guinness. The percentages describe which beers appear in the priced-listing sample; they do not measure beer sales, market share or the share of all Australian pubs serving each beer.
Use the state sample when the trip is local
The state tables have their own denominators. The same national brand can appear at a different share of the recorded venues in each state. Products with fewer than 30 supporting venues are omitted from the ranked tables.

What the fields mean
- venues / n
- Distinct contributing venues in that place and table; not all pubs in the area.
- value
- One recorded venue/product mention. Serving sizes and regular/offer rows are deduplicated. group identifies the canonical product.
- checked
- Recorded source-check date. Blank means a complete date is unavailable. For a venue average or bill, every part needs a date; the earliest date is retained.
- snapshot_date
- When the public PINTR catalogue snapshot was retrieved, not when every venue’s menu was checked.
How we counted
2,091 distinct venues contribute 5,088 venue-level figures to this report. 3,302 of those figures have a complete recorded source-check date.
- PINTR includes pubs, bars, clubs and other licensed venues. Every headline count refers to the matching PINTR sample, not every pub in an area.
- This is a snapshot of reported prices in PINTR, not a representative survey of every Australian pub. A venue without a matching price is outside the denominator, rather than counted as expensive.
- A table row needs at least 30 contributing venues. City areas use PINTR’s published state-boundary and radius definitions; neighbouring city catchments can overlap.
- A snapshot date records when PINTR’s public catalogue was retrieved. It does not mean each menu was checked that day. Individual source-check dates, including blanks, are retained in the downloads.
- Use identified beer products with an explicit positive price for a recorded serving, including bottle/can/custom servings allowed by PINTR’s existing size rules. Exclude unspecified selected-tap offers and non-beer/alcohol-free records.
- Deduplicate canonical venue plus canonical beer product across serving sizes and price types. Member-only prices may support product presence, but are never treated as publicly available regular prices or discounts. Each venue can count once for several different products. Percentages are not expected to add to 100.
- The national denominator is distinct venues with at least one qualifying named-beer mention. Each state denominator uses only its matching venues. Neither includes directory-only records without a named priced beer.
- Rank up to 20 national and 10 state products by distinct recorded venues; require at least 30 supporting venues for a ranked product. A blank/missing listing is not evidence that a venue does not serve a beer.
Prices come from PINTR’s published venue and price catalogue, retrieved . The public directory and downloads show the supporting figures. This report does not measure inflation, national market share or changes over time.
