How much cheaper is the same beer at happy hour?
The beer, serving label and venue all have to match. This is the smaller sample where PINTR can put a named regular pint directly beside its listed happy-hour price.

Rows with fewer than 30 venues are omitted. Exact named products and pint labels match within each venue. Offer conditions and evidence dates can differ.

A $7 generic tap offer and a $16 Guinness pint do not establish a Guinness saving. These pairs require the same canonical product, same pint label and same pub.
A small, specific comparison
Where several products match at one venue, their pairs are averaged before the venue is counted once. Higher or equal offer prices are retained and shown. Source dates can differ, so the result describes listed price pairs rather than a verified current saving.

What the fields mean
- venues / n
- Distinct contributing venues in that place and table; not all pubs in the area.
- value
- First price minus second price in AUD. regularPrice = Regular matched pint; offerPrice = Happy-hour matched pint. Negative values and higher second prices are retained.
- checked
- Recorded source-check date. Blank means a complete date is unavailable. For a venue average or bill, every part needs a date; the earliest date is retained.
- snapshot_date
- When the public PINTR catalogue snapshot was retrieved, not when every venue’s menu was checked.
How we counted
30 distinct venues contribute 30 venue-level figures to this report. 0 of those figures have a complete recorded source-check date.
- PINTR includes pubs, bars, clubs and other licensed venues. Every headline count refers to the matching PINTR sample, not every pub in an area.
- This is a snapshot of reported prices in PINTR, not a representative survey of every Australian pub. A venue without a matching price is outside the denominator, rather than counted as expensive.
- A table row needs at least 30 contributing venues. City areas use PINTR’s published state-boundary and radius definitions; neighbouring city catchments can overlap.
- A snapshot date records when PINTR’s public catalogue was retrieved. It does not mean each menu was checked that day. Individual source-check dates, including blanks, are retained in the downloads.
- Inner-join reported regular and happy-hour prices on canonical venue, identified product and pint label. Exclude generic selected-tap offers and member prices.
- Average the matched regular prices and matched offer prices within each venue, then count the venue once. Keep equal and higher offer prices as well as lower ones. Retain the earliest component evidence date only when every part is dated.
- Beer comparisons use identified products labelled “pint” on the recorded menu. Unspecified tap/house beer listings are excluded. The label does not guarantee the same volume everywhere, particularly in South Australia; these figures are not a like-for-like volume ranking.
Prices come from PINTR’s published venue and price catalogue, retrieved . The public directory and downloads show the supporting figures. This report does not measure inflation, national market share or changes over time.
